Same plot again

This authors books are so repetitive. I order them because I quite like her style of writing and live in hope of getting a different plot - but, alas, it is always the same. Ordinary, down to earth girl who is a great cook snags well know hottie who usually dates supermodels. I'm all for a bit of fantasy - but that just doesn't happen! If you have read one of her books don't bother with the rest.

There's a good book in here somewhere

I first read "Winter's Tale" by this author, and thought I had found a good source of enjoyable novels - perhaps not the best fiction, but the kind of nicely written good story that whiles away a day or two very pleasantly. After starting "Wedding Tiers", however, I kept checking back to make sure I had indeed picked the same author, such was the drop in writing standard. As with the other book, the story is sweet; not the most thrilling plot, but a good enough story filled with enjoyable details and quirky, believable characters. The writing, sadly, is distracting. Aside from a certain stiltedness and tendency to insert irrelevant sidelines (such as the discussion on frying eggs in olive oil), the worst thing is the overuse of the exclamation point. Not only does the author punctuate sentences like "That will be lovely!" (perfectly okay), but random comments like "He'd probably decided to go back to the party!" and "I must have fooled most people into thinking I was all right!" O-KAY! There's also an annoying use, by a British character, of the term "God-ma" (for godmother) which sounds oddly American and definitely silly. That said, if you can overlook those irritations, it's not a bad read; just could have been a good read if a stronger editor had made a little more use of the red pen.

Enjoyable, easy read

Not the most riveting of books, but enjoyable none the less. Easy, comfortable book - good read for a morning lie in, or bedtime read.
